Ethos and FAQs
To complete an illustration project successfully, effective communication between illustrator and client is paramount. In essence, clear and open communication will result in a successful client-illustrator relationship. For this, the following Ethos and FAQs will help set client and illustrator expectations on both sides of the equation to determine whether we are a good fit.

What types of illustration do you produce?
I produce artworks that reflect tangible and intangible heritage within the following illustration styles and themes: Food illustration, travel illustration, illustrated maps, illustrated architectural landmarks, and drawings depicting cultural fashion, jewellery, home decor and more. For a full list, please visit my Illustration Portfolio.
Are there any illustration topics you prefer not to take on?
Meat
I welcome food illustration commissions depicting vegetarian, pescetarian, vegan and plant-based foods. And although myself not a meat enthusiast, I also welcome food illustration commissions that include meats that are within the following categories: Beef, lamb, and chicken – and related by-products, such as butter, milk, ghee, eggs and cheese.
Alcohol
With regards to alcoholic beverages, my preference is not to accept commissions that are about drinking establishments, alcoholic beverages and brands or events centred around drinking.
Smoking and Substances
I prefer not to be involved in projects promoting cigarettes, cigars, vaping, or smoking/consumption of any mind-altering substances, including any of their derivatives and those deemed legal in the client’s country or location.
Do you accept illustration commissions from individuals?
Unfortunately, commissions requested by individuals to draw their families, favourite foods, or beloved pets, is not within my scope of services as an illustrator.
What are your thoughts regrading mutual respect and professionalism?
I previously worked on client side and was always very courteous and respectful towards the freelancers we’d hired. Naturally, I expect the same level of courtesy and respect from potential clients. As an illustrator, I work methodically and with a great degree of discipline and attention to detail. As such, I love to work with like-minded professionals, who have a clear vision of what they want, and posses the experience and insight to understand the nature of illustration work.
Do you produce illustrations and GIFs for social media?
The answer is yes. But for best results, clients interested in illustrations or GIFs for their social media feeds will need to provide the latest specs, formats and dimensions for the social media platforms they wish to create illustrations and animations for. Here’s why: I stopped using social media some time ago because, as an illustrator, it has little-to-no added value to my work, with all the changing algorithms and the time drain.
Who retains the copyright for the illustrations?
As an illustration industry standard, copyright of illustrations always rests with the illustrator.
Do you accept fine art commissions to produce oil and acrylic canvas paintings, and/or gouache on paper, watercolour on paper, and ink on paper works of art?
I consider my fine art pieces as a free expression of my curiosity and imagination as an artist. That is why I do not accept commissions looking for bespoke works of art, nor do I create replicas of the same artwork. Each work of art is unique and created in the moment, and each moment has its own muse. I create art when inspiration strikes, and it never strikes twice in the same way. I also believe that each art piece has its spiritual essence, which comes from the artist’s intentions and inspirations in the moment. To ask an artist to alter an original art piece – with a different colour palette or composition – is akin to stripping the art work of its very soul. That is why, every original painting is the “one and only” in my Fine Art Portfolio.
